Learning in the City

The Learning in the City cluster explores the institutions, practices and social relations of urban education, broadly defined. It engages both formal and informal learning alike in a larger analysis of how knowledge is produced, accessed and transferred within the urban environment.  Students within this cluster look at points of access to both higher and primary education, as well as other social, communal, political and infrastructural elements that shape how and where learning can take place.  This cluster asks, how does the city facilitate or hinder certain kinds of knowledges from being created, exposed, shared and valued?
